What are phone case boxes?

Phone case boxes are thin printed cartons made to hold one phone case, usually with a window on the front so the case shows. They are most often straight tuck end cartons, so both end flaps tuck from the same side and the windowed front stays unbroken. They arrive flat and fold by hand.

They suit phone cases and screen protectors. The cartons arrive flat and fold up at your packing bench.

Who uses phone case boxes?

Case brands, phone repair shops, market traders and online sellers of cases and screen protectors. A printed box turns a case in a plastic bag into a product that can sit on a retail wall.

Our photos show four slim windowed cartons. Most have a hang loop or tab at the top and a large window that shows the back of the case, with the model printed down the side.

Each of those cartons is only as deep as the case, which keeps a wall of them tidy and takes very little space in a drawer behind the counter.

Why a straight tuck suits a windowed case box

On a straight tuck end carton, the top and bottom flaps both tuck in from the same side. The front panel stays a single unbroken face, which matters when most of it is a window.

The tucks sit behind the case, out of sight on the shelf. For the detail on this closure, see straight tuck end boxes and how they fold.

A reverse tuck can be quoted instead if you prefer. On a slim box the difference is mainly in how the panels line up.

Customers open the top tuck to take the case out, so put nothing important on that flap. A short line such as the model name is enough there.

What size box fits a phone case?

Measure the case lying flat: its length, its width and its depth at the camera bump. Add about 2 mm on length and width, and 1 to 2 mm on depth.

Folio and wallet cases are deeper, so measure them closed with any card slots filled the way you sell them. The table gives common starting sizes.

Case typeMeasure atStarting box size
Slim clear caseCamera bumpabout 85 × 14 × 165 mm

Folio caseClosed, with strapabout 90 × 22 × 180 mm
Screen protector kitGlass and wipesabout 85 × 10 × 175 mm

One box size can often serve several similar models. Check the biggest case in the group and size to that.

How big should the window be?

The window usually takes most of the front, leaving a printed frame of 12 to 20 mm. That frame keeps the panel stiff and gives room for the brand and the model name.

Clear film behind the window keeps dust off the case and stops fingers going in. Shaped windows, such as the outline of the phone, work well on bold frames like our black sample. See die-cut windows with or without film for the options.

Holding the case against the window

A slim case slides about in a box unless something holds it. A printed card behind the case, cut to the inside size, pushes it forward against the film.

That backing card can also carry fitting instructions, like the step-by-step panel on the back of our black sample. It is cut from board and dropped in by hand.

If you also sell a screen protector with the case, the backing card can carry a shallow pocket for it. Both items then travel in one slim box without sliding over each other.

Can a phone case box hang on a peg?

Yes. A header tab punched with a round hole or a slot sits above the top tuck. Accessory walls in phone shops are built for exactly this.

Some of our sample photos use a fabric loop instead. We quote the punched card tab, which is cut from the same board as the carton, and our page on tuck boxes with a hang tab shows how it is laid out.

Print both faces of the header. Shoppers often see the back of it from the end of the aisle.

Printing for a range of phone models

Case sellers often stock the same design across many models. Keep one layout and print the model name on the side panel and the front frame, as several of our samples do.

Each model can share a box size where the cases are close in size. Where they are not, each size gets its own dieline, and our designers place the artwork on every one for free.

A colour stripe per model family also helps your own team pick the right box quickly.

  • Model name on the front frame and one side panel
  • Case colour or finish named under the window
  • Fitting steps on the back panel or backing card
  • Barcode on the back, clear of the tucks
  • Brand name running up the spine for shelf facing

Board and finishes for case boxes

Standard board is 350gsm white SBS, which keeps a slim box flat and holds crisp small type. Kraft or a different board can be quoted on request.

Black cartons with matt lamination and a spot UV name are common in this category. Gloss lamination, soft touch, silver or holographic foil and embossing are all options on the quote.

Foil on a black carton catches the light on a busy accessory wall. Keep it to the brand name or a thin border, because large foil areas can show scuffs from handling.

Delivery, packing and common mistakes

Cartons arrive flat, glued on the side seam, with the film already fixed behind the window. Fold each box, slide the case and backing card in, then tuck both ends.

We produce them in 4–6 business days after proof approval. Free tracked delivery reaches UK addresses in 2–3 business days.

The usual mistakes are measuring the case without its camera bump, making the window so large that the frame bends, and printing the model name only on the front.

How do I order phone case boxes?

  1. Measure your largest case flat, including the camera bump.
  2. Tell us the models, the quantity for each and any hang tab or backing card.
  3. We price the cases in writing, from £0.25 per unit, with the window and film on the same quote.
  4. Approve the free proof with the window and artwork in place.
  5. We print, cut, fit the film and glue, then deliver free across the UK.

Phone Case Boxes: questions

What size box do I need for a standard phone case?

A common starting size is about 85 × 15 × 170 mm inside. Measure your largest case flat, including the camera bump.

Do phone case boxes come with clear film in the window?

Film is an option. Most case boxes use it to keep dust out, and it is fitted before the boxes are sent.

Which closure suits a windowed phone case box?

A straight tuck end, so both flaps tuck from the same side and the windowed front stays unbroken. A reverse tuck can be quoted instead.

Can one case box size fit several phone models?

Often, if the cases are close in size. We size to the largest case in the group.

How do I stop a case moving inside its box?

Add a printed backing card cut to the inside size. It pushes the case against the window and can carry fitting steps.

Can a phone case carton hang on a shop peg?

Yes. A punched header tab with a round hole or slot can be added above the top tuck.

Can I print the phone model on the side of the box?

Yes. Every outside panel can be printed, and putting the model on the side helps when boxes are stacked on a shelf.

Will a large window make a slim box flimsy?

A printed frame of about 12 to 20 mm round the window keeps the front stiff. We check the frame width on the proof.

Can you make boxes for screen protectors too?

Yes. A shallow carton about 10 mm deep suits most glass protector kits. Send the size of the glass and any wipes.

Which finish is popular for phone case packaging?

Black artwork with matt lamination and a spot UV name is common. Gloss, soft touch and foil are also options.

Are phone case boxes shipped flat?

Yes. They arrive flat with the side seam glued and any window film fitted, ready to fold by hand.

How long does a phone case box order take?

Printing takes 4–6 business days after you approve the proof. Your case boxes then travel free and tracked, reaching UK addresses in 2–3 business days.
