What do wax melt boxes look like?

Most are low and flat, because a snap bar or a row of melts is wide and shallow. The lid hinges at the back and tucks in at the front, so the box opens like a small book laid flat.

Who sells wax melts in printed boxes?

Wax melts are one of the busiest small-maker categories in the UK. A printed box helps a bar stand out from the plain clamshells most sellers start with.

How does a tuck top lid work on a wax melt box?

The tuck top has a lid hinged along the back edge. At the front, a tuck flap folds down and slides inside the front panel, while two dust flaps close the sides.

This gives a wide top panel for your logo and scent name. It also opens and shuts many times, which suits melts that are snapped off one cube at a time.

The dust flaps also stop loose melts sliding out of the sides when the box is tipped.

What size box fits a wax melt snap bar?

A common six-cube snap bar is about 105 mm long, 60 mm wide and 15 mm deep. Add a few millimetres all round and you get a box near 110 × 65 × 20 mm.

If the bar stays in its clamshell, measure the clamshell instead, including the lip around the edge. Clamshells are usually wider and deeper than the bar itself.

Shaped melts such as hearts or shells need a little more room than cubes, so measure the widest point.

Do wax melt boxes need an insert?

Loose shapes slide about in a shallow box. A card insert with cut-outs, like the round cradle in the kraft sample, holds each melt in its own place.

For snap bars, an insert is rarely needed if the box is cut close. For gift sets of round discs, a row insert or a little shred keeps them neat.

Card and rise-up inserts arrive flat and slot in by hand.

Can a wax melt box show the melts inside?

Yes. The tall sample has a cut-out at the foot of the front panel, so the round melts show below the printed label area. A window on the lid works for bars with a pressed pattern.

A window may be left open or fitted with clear film. Film keeps fragrance oil from marking nearby boxes on a shelf.

Keep any window away from the lid hinge, as that fold is opened most often.

Board, print and finishes

We use 350gsm white SBS as standard, with kraft and other boards on request. Fragrance oils can mark uncoated board, so a laminated finish is a sensible choice for melts.

You can add matt, gloss or soft touch lamination, spot UV, or foil in gold, silver or holographic. Pastel prints, like the mint and pink sample, show up well on white board.

A soft touch finish on a pastel box gives it a velvety feel that suits a gift.

How do wax melt boxes pack and post?

Flat, shallow boxes pack tightly in a mailer. Several bars fit in a large letter-sized parcel when the boxes are cut close to the bar.

Melts can soften in a hot van, so keep boxes away from radiators before posting. The box itself arrives flat and folds by hand at your bench.

Print the scent on an end panel too, so boxes stacked in a basket can be read from the side.

Can I make a wax melt gift set box?

A gift set usually holds four to eight melts or a mix of bars and shapes. A wider tuck top box with a card insert keeps each piece in its place.

The white sample with shred shows a looser style, with discs packed on paper filling. It suits a pick-and-mix set where the shapes vary.

Size a gift set around the insert, not the melts. Send a sketch of the layout you want and we draw the insert on the proof.

Common wax melt box mistakes

Wax melt boxes are small, so a few millimetres matter more than on most cartons.

• Sizing the box to the bar when the bar ships in a clamshell
• Leaving uncoated board next to oily melts
• Placing the scent name on the tuck flap, where it is hidden when closed
• Ordering a deep box for a thin bar, so it rattles

If any box arrives misprinted or damaged, photos within 10 days get it reprinted or refunded.
