What are beard oil boxes?
Beard oil boxes are narrow printed cartons for small glass bottles of oil, usually 10 to 50 ml. Most are reverse tuck end boxes. The lid flap folds in from the rear and the base flap from the front. They are cut to your bottle with a little headroom, so the dropper does not push on the lid.
They suit beard oils and balms. The cartons arrive flat and fold up at your packing bench.

Who orders printed beard oil boxes?
Beard oil is often the first product a men's grooming brand sells. The bottle is small, the margin is good and the box does most of the selling on a barber's counter.
The buyers we hear from tend to fall into a few groups.
- Barbershops selling an own-label oil next to the till
- Grooming start-ups launching one scent before adding a balm
- Market and craft fair traders who need a box that stands up on a table
- Online sellers who want a carton that looks good in a listing photo
- Gift shops making up oil and comb sets for birthdays and Father's Day
Most of them later add a balm, a wash or a gift set. It pays to plan one look across the health and beauty carton range from the start.
Why is a reverse tuck end the usual closure?
On a reverse tuck oil box, the lid flap closes behind and the base flap closes in front, so each end shuts on a different face.
That suits a tall bottle box. The flaps are small, the carton folds quickly by hand and it costs less to cut than a crash-lock base.
If you pack a few hundred bottles a week, an auto bottom can be quoted instead. It pops open with the base already formed, so only the top needs tucking.
What size box fits a 30 ml beard oil bottle?
A 30 ml glass dropper bottle is usually around 32 mm across and 100 mm tall with the dropper fitted. Allow about 2 mm each way plus 5 mm over the dropper. That puts the oil box at roughly 36 × 36 × 105 mm inside.
Bottles vary between suppliers, and pumps sit taller than droppers. Measure the bottle you will actually fill, with its cap on, before you ask for a price.
Our step-by-step notes on measuring a tuck box from your product show where to put the ruler.
Do short or round bottles need an insert?
A round bottle in a square carton touches the walls at four points and rattles in the corners. For a 10 ml or 30 ml bottle that is rarely a problem, but a heavy glass bottle can knock against the flaps in the post.
Two fixes come up most. A card collar with a round hole holds the neck in the centre of the carton. A rise-up insert lifts a short bottle so the top of the label shows when the lid is opened.
Both are quoted as options and printed in plain board or your brand colour. If you are not sure you need one, send a bottle and we will say honestly whether the carton alone is snug enough.
Which board and print suit a grooming brand?
The default stock is 350gsm white SBS, and kraft or another board can be quoted if you ask. White board gives the cleanest colour for a bright orange or a deep green.
Kraft suits a rugged, hand-made feel. One of our sample photos shows a plain brown carton with a round stamped logo in black, standing beside two amber bottles.
Matt black with a white or silver name is the other common look. On black, a soft touch lamination gives a velvety feel and hides fingerprints from the shop counter.
There is more on brown board in our page on printed kraft tuck boxes.
How do the finishes compare on a beard oil carton?
Finishes are all options, priced on the same written quote. This is how they tend to work on a small, tall carton.
| Finish | What it does on a beard oil box | Good with |
|---|---|---|
| Matt lamination | Flat, calm surface that photographs without glare | Black, navy and earthy tones |
| Soft touch lamination | Velvety feel, hides marks from handling | Dark boxes sold over a counter |
| Spot UV | Glossy logo or icon on a matt face | Beard or skull motifs, scent names |
| Gold or silver foil | Metallic name that catches shop light | Premium oils and gift sets |
| Embossing | Raised logo you can feel | Kraft or uncoated looks |
Before you pick one, read how foil and spot UV are applied to a carton.
What goes on each panel?
A tall carton has a narrow front, so the brand name usually runs down the panel or sits large at the top. In one of our photos, the name is printed vertically up the front of an orange box with an illustrated face below it.
Use the side panels for the scent, the volume and how to use the oil. Keep ingredients and your contact details on the back. The base is a good home for a barcode and a batch code, because it never shows on the shelf.
Leave the top flap simple. It is the first thing a buyer sees when the box is opened, and a small logo or a short line works well there.
How do the boxes arrive and pack?
The cartons reach you flat, with the side seam already glued. Squeeze the edges, the tube opens, and you tuck the bottom flap in from the front before dropping the bottle in.
For online orders, put the boxed bottle in a small padded mailer or a shipper with some paper around it. The printed carton is the retail pack, not the postal box.
Your beard oil cartons spend 4–6 business days in production. The free, tracked trip to your UK door then takes 2–3 business days. Store the flat cartons somewhere dry and away from a sunny window, so the print stays bright until you use them.
What mistakes do beard oil brands make with their first box?
- Measuring the bottle without the dropper or pump fitted, so the lid will not close
- Sizing to a sample bottle, then switching glass suppliers before the run
- Putting small ingredient text across a fold line where it cracks
- Choosing a dark board colour with fine black text that nobody can read
- Leaving no clear patch for a barcode on the oil box
Our free design proof shows the artwork laid on the dieline, so most of these get caught before anything is printed.
How do you order beard oil boxes?
- Measure your filled bottle with its dropper or pump, in millimetres.
- Send the size, the quantity you want and any finishes through the tuck box quote request form.
- You get a written quote back; grooming cartons begin from £0.25 per unit, and size, run and finish move the figure.
- A designer sets your artwork onto the dieline at no charge and emails you a proof.
- After sign-off, allow 4–6 business days for printing your grooming boxes; posting to you is free.
If you only have a logo, our designers can build a simple layout around it at proof stage.
Beard Oil Boxes: questions
Can one beard oil box design cover several scents?
Yes. Many brands keep one design and change only the scent name and a colour band. Every scent version is priced as a separate artwork on one quote.
Will a 30 ml beard oil box also fit a 50 ml bottle?
Usually not. A 50 ml bottle is wider and taller, so it would not fit, and a 30 ml bottle would rattle in a 50 ml box. Size each box to its own bottle.
Can the beard oil carton have a window?
Yes. We can cut a window in the oil box face, open or filmed. Many grooming brands skip it because amber glass looks dark through a small window.
Is there a box for a beard oil and balm gift set?
Yes. We can cut a wider tuck carton with a card insert that holds a bottle and a tin side by side. Send both sizes and we size the insert around them.
Do beard oil boxes come assembled?
No. Oil boxes ship flat with the seam glued, which saves room in your stockroom. They fold up by hand in a few seconds.
Can I print inside the beard oil box?
Yes, inside printing can be quoted. Grooming brands often print a short note from the barber or a beard pattern under the lid.
Which closure stops a beard oil box opening in a bag?
A reverse tuck with a snug fit stays shut in normal handling. If you want a firmer lid, ask for a tighter tuck flap or a thumb notch that is cut smaller.
Can beard oil boxes have a hang tab for peg hooks?
Yes. We can extend the top of the oil box into a punched tab for a shop peg. Tell us on your quote so the tab is built into the dieline.
What if my beard oil bottle size is not settled yet?
Wait until you have the final bottle in hand. A few millimetres of difference changes how snug the box feels, so measure the real bottle first.
Can you match my brand orange or green exactly?
We print to the colour values in your artwork and show them on the proof. If a shade matters, tell us when you order and we note it for the press.
How long until my beard oil boxes reach me?
Once you sign off the proof, beard oil cartons take 4–6 business days to print. Grooming boxes then reach you by free tracked UK delivery within 2–3 business days.
What happens if beard oil boxes arrive misprinted?
Report a misprint or damage within 10 days with photos. We reprint or refund the affected boxes.
