What are contact lens boxes?
Contact lens boxes are slim printed cartons for blister packs of lenses and small eye care accessories. They usually close with a straight tuck end. Both flaps fold towards the back, leaving the front panel unbroken. The box is cut to the stack or row of blisters it holds, in millimetres.
They suit lens packs and eye care. The cartons arrive flat and fold up at your packing bench.

Who orders printed contact lens cartons?
Lens blisters are tiny and identical, so the carton is where the brand lives. It is also the part a customer keeps in the bathroom cabinet for a month.
Most of our lens box orders come from businesses that sell lenses under their own name or bundle accessories.
Each of them has a slightly different reason for wanting a printed carton rather than a plain one.
- Subscription lens brands posting monthly or quarterly packs
- Independent opticians with an own-label daily lens
- Coloured and cosmetic lens sellers who want a bold outer box
- Accessory brands boxing lens cases, tweezers and travel kits
- Gift and sample packs for trade shows and launches
The carton is outer packaging only; it goes around lenses that are already sealed in their blisters.
Why is a straight tuck end the usual closure for lens boxes?
With a straight tuck end, the top and bottom flaps both fold in from the back. From the front, you see one clean panel from end to end.
That matters on a long, slim box. A solid block of colour, as in our photos, only works when no flap edge breaks it.
The lens box is light and opens on its short end, so hand tucking is all it needs. A reverse tuck can be quoted if you prefer it, and costs about the same.
Our straight tuck end box page shows the flap layout more fully.
What size box fits 30 daily lens blisters?
It depends on how you load them. Daily lens blisters are roughly 38 to 40 mm long, 30 to 35 mm wide and about 5 mm deep each.
Stand 30 of them on edge in one row and you need a box about 160 mm long, 42 mm wide and 40 mm tall inside. Lay them flat in two stacks of 15 and the box becomes shorter and taller instead.
Blister sizes differ between lens makers, so count and measure the real blisters before you ask for a price. Leave about 2 mm of play so the last blister slides in.
We cover clearance rules in our guide to measuring products for a tuck box.
Rows or stacks: which layout suits lens blisters?
| Layout | Box shape | Works well for |
|---|---|---|
| One row on edge | Long and slim | 30-day daily packs, easy to pull one out |
| Two or three rows | Long and wider, with a card divider | 90-day packs and subscriptions |
| Flat stack | Short and tall | Small trial packs and monthly lenses |
| Mixed kit | Low and wide, with a card insert | Lens case, tweezers and accessories |
A single row is the easiest for customers, and the simplest to pack at speed. They open the end flap and take one blister at a time, like a pack of cards.
How should a lens box be printed?
Lens boxes tend to use a single strong colour, with the brand name small on the top or end panel. Our sample photos show deep blue cartons with a white wordmark running along one end.
That suits stacking. When boxes sit in a drawer or on a shelf, the colour block tells one lens type from another.
Use the back panel for the lens details you need to print, such as power, base curve and count. Leave a clear white or light area there, so small numbers stay easy to read.
Which board and finishes suit contact lens boxes?
Our standard stock is 350gsm white SBS. If you want a kraft board or something else, ask and we quote it.
Full colour on white SBS gives an even, solid flood. A matt lamination keeps that flood looking smooth and helps it resist scuffs in the post. Soft touch feels pleasant in the hand and suits a premium lens line.
A foil or spot UV logo on a dark blue box is a small touch that customers notice when they open it each month.
Read how foil and lamination finishes work to compare the options.
Can a lens box carry a code panel for each prescription?
Yes. Many lens sellers print one carton design and add the power and other details on a sticker or by overprinting.
To make that easy, leave a blank panel on the back or one end, about 40 × 25 mm. A white panel takes a printed label cleanly.
If you sell a small number of fixed products, you can also print the details straight onto each version of the carton. We price each lens power version as a separate artwork.
How are lens boxes delivered and packed for subscriptions?
The cartons arrive flat, glued down the side seam. Open them into a tube, tuck the bottom flap and slide the blisters in.
For subscriptions, a slim lens box fits a large letter mailer easily. Check your mailer's inside size against the box before you order both.
Printing slim lens cartons takes 4–6 business days after sign-off. Free tracked delivery to the address you give us follows within 2–3 business days.
What about boxes for lens cases and accessory kits?
Lens accessories sell well as small kits: a case, tweezers, a mirror and sometimes a small travel bottle. These need a lower, wider carton than a blister box.
A card insert with shaped cut-outs keeps each item in its place, so the kit looks tidy when the lid opens. Without one, the parts slide into a corner.
A tuck top often suits a kit better than an end opening, because the customer sees everything at once. A hang tab helps if the kit sells from a peg in an optician's shop.
Send us each item, or its measurements, and we lay out the insert around them.
What goes wrong with first lens box orders?
- Measuring one blister and multiplying, without allowing for the curve of each one
- Forgetting a divider on a wide box, so the rows collapse as blisters come out
- Putting small prescription details on a dark background
- Running the logo across the fold between front and end panels
- Not leaving a blank panel when every box needs its own label

Contact Lens Boxes: questions
Do contact lens boxes come with the blisters?
No. We make the printed outer carton only. You pack your own sealed blisters into it.
Can a lens box open from the top instead of the end?
Yes. Any closure can be quoted, including a tuck top that opens along the long side. Tell us which way you want customers to take blisters out.
Can I print one lens box design for several powers?
Yes. Print one design and add each power on a label, or order a version per power. Each printed version counts as its own artwork.
How many lens blisters fit in one box?
As many as you want: we cut the box to the count and layout you send. Measure your real blisters packed the way you plan to load them.
Can a contact lens box have a window?
Yes. We can cut a window in a lens carton, open or filmed. Most lens brands skip it, since plain foil blisters do not add much to the look.
Will a lens box fit through a letterbox?
A slim single-row lens box usually does when posted in a slim mailer. Check the mailer and the letterbox size you aim for before ordering.
Can I have a divider inside a 90-day lens box?
Yes. A card divider between rows can be quoted as an option. It keeps each row standing as the box empties.
What colour should a contact lens box be?
That is up to you. Strong solid colours make different lens types easy to tell apart. Keep the back panel light where small text sits.
Can lens boxes be printed inside?
Yes. Inside printing is quoted as an option, often a pattern or a short note on the inside of the lid.
Can a lens accessory kit box hang on a peg?
Yes. We can add a punched tab above the lid so the kit hangs at eye level.
How long until my contact lens boxes arrive?
Your lens packaging is printed within 4–6 business days of approval, then travels free with tracking for 2–3 business days.
What if my lens boxes arrive with a fault?
Send photos of the faulty lens cartons within 10 days of delivery. See our reprint and refund terms for how we put it right.
