What are supplement boxes?
Supplement boxes are printed outer cartons for tubs, jars and bottles of capsules, tablets, gummies or powder. Most are reverse tuck end cartons: the tub drops in from the top and both ends tuck shut. The carton is cut to the size of your container, with a little room around the lid.
They suit supplement tubs and jars. The cartons arrive flat and fold up at your packing bench.

Who buys printed supplement cartons?
A tub on its own looks like a pharmacy own-brand. Put it in a printed carton and it starts to look like a product people pick up and turn over.
We cut supplement boxes for a mix of UK sellers, most of them small and growing.
- New supplement brands launching their first two or three products
- Gyms and personal trainers selling an own-label product at reception
- Online sellers who want a box that photographs well for listings
- Health food shops boxing their house range
- Gift sellers building wellness bundles with a tub and a bottle
Supplement cartons usually sit beside skincare and grooming lines, which is why they live in our health and beauty tuck box range.
Why do supplement boxes use a reverse tuck end?
In a reverse tuck carton, the top flap closes from the back and the bottom one closes from the front. They mirror each other across the box.
For a tub, that means the base tucks in first and the tub drops straight down onto it. The top flap then closes over the lid.
It is quick by hand and keeps the cost down. If you box hundreds of tubs a day, a crash-lock base can be quoted so the bottom forms as the carton opens.
Our page on reverse tuck end carton styles shows the flap order in photos.
What size box fits a 60-capsule tub?
A common 60-capsule tub is about 62 mm across and 108 mm tall with its lid. Add 2 mm on each side and a few millimetres of height, and an inside size of about 66 × 66 × 112 mm works.
Tubs from different makers look alike but vary. Lids in particular differ in height, and a flip-top cap can add 10 mm.
Always measure the tub you will fill, lid on, at its widest point. If the tub has a shoulder or a ridge, measure across that rather than the body.
There is a fuller walk-through in how to measure a tuck box.
How much text fits on a supplement carton?
More than on most cartons. A supplement box often carries the product name, a short description, the directions, an ingredient table and your business details.
Plan the panels before you design. A quick sketch of the six faces saves a lot of moving text around later. The front is for the name and one clear line about the product. The back and one side take the label copy. The other side is free for a lifestyle image or a flavour list.
Keep body text at 6 pt or larger and away from fold lines. We do not write or check your label wording; that stays with you, and we print what you send.
How do the common carton styles compare for supplements?
| Style | Suits | Packing |
|---|---|---|
| Reverse tuck end | Single tubs and bottles | Base tucked, tub dropped in, top tucked |
| Tuck end auto bottom | Taller or heavier jars packed in volume | Base forms when the carton is opened |
| Tuck top | Stick packs and sachet cartons | Lid hinged at the back, tucked at the front |
| Window carton | Gummies in a clear jar | Any tuck end with a die-cut front |
Each style uses our standard 350gsm white SBS; kraft or a different board is priced on request.
Which finishes work on supplement boxes?
Colour coding helps most. Many brands keep one layout and change a band of colour per product, so a buyer can tell magnesium from vitamin D at a glance.
A matt lamination gives a calm, modern look and keeps scuffs down. Gloss makes bright greens and blues look richer, like the deep blue carton in one of our photos.
Spot UV on the logo or a leaf motif adds a little shine without changing the whole box. Foil is less common on supplements, but works for a premium line.
See lamination, foil and spot UV explained before you choose.
Do supplement tubs need an insert?
A round tub in a square carton leaves four gaps in the corners. For most tubs that is fine: the lid and the base hold it upright.
If the tub is short for its box, or you want it to sit dead centre behind a window, a card collar with a round cut-out can hold it in place.
Stick packs and sachets are different. They stand on end in a tuck top carton, and a simple divider keeps them upright as the box empties.
How are supplement boxes delivered and packed?
They arrive flat, glued down one side. Push the edges and the carton opens into a square tube, ready for the base flap.
Pack the boxed tubs upright in a shipper with a little paper on top. Keep spare flat cartons in a dry room, off the floor. If you hand-pack at a market stall, a stack of flat cartons fits in a tote bag and folds up as you sell.
Making takes 4–6 business days from the day you approve your proof. Your supplement cartons then travel free, with tracking, and land within 2–3 business days.
Can one carton size serve several supplements?
Often, yes. If your capsules, tablets and powders share the same tub, one die can cut boxes for the whole range. Only the print changes.
That keeps the price per unit down, because a single cutting die does all the work. It also gives your shelf a neat, even row.
Where tubs differ, group them. A brand with a 60-count tub and a 120-count tub usually needs two box sizes, not six.
Check the tallest lid in the group before you settle on one height. A box sized to the shortest tub will not close over the tallest one.
Which mistakes are common with supplement packaging?
- Measuring the tub without its lid, or with a different lid
- Fitting too much label text on a small front panel
- Putting the barcode over a fold or on the base where scanners miss it
- Choosing near-identical colours for different products in a range
- Ordering boxes before the tub supplier has confirmed its final size
Most of these are easy to spot on the free proof, so take your time checking it.
How do you order supplement boxes?
- Measure your filled tub or bottle with the lid on.
- Send the size, quantity, board and finish through our supplement box quote form.
- We send a written price, starting from £0.25 per unit, worked out on size and quantity.
- A designer fits your label artwork to the supplement dieline and sends a free proof.
- After approval, production runs 4–6 business days and UK delivery is free.
Supplement Boxes: questions
Can each supplement in my range have its own colour?
Yes. Every product colour counts as a separate artwork, all on one supplement quote. One layout in several colours lets shoppers read a supplement range from a metre away.
Do you check the wording on my supplement label?
No. We print the artwork you approve on the proof. The label wording and any rules that apply to it are your responsibility.
Can supplement boxes have a window to show gummies?
Yes. A die-cut window can be added to the front, with or without clear film. It works best when the jar is clear and the gummies are colourful.
Will a supplement box fit a flip-top lid?
Yes, if you measure the tub with the lid fitted. Flip-top caps are taller than screw caps, so the box needs the extra height.
Can you make a carton for stick packs or sachets?
Yes. These are usually tuck top cartons with the opening on top. Send the size of one stick and how many go in each box.
Is there room for a barcode on a supplement box?
Yes. Most brands put it on the back or a side panel. Keep it flat on one panel, away from any fold.
Can supplement cartons be printed inside?
Yes, inside printing can be added as an option. Some brands print dosing reminders or a thank-you note there.
Which board is used for supplement boxes?
For tubs and bottles we print on 350gsm white SBS. Ask, and we will price kraft or another stock. White gives the brightest colour.
Can I get a sample of my supplement box before the full run?
Ask when you request your quote. Every order starts with a free design proof showing your artwork on the dieline.
Can a supplement box have a hang tab?
Yes. A punched tab above the lid lets a supplement carton hang on a peg. Mention it in your supplement box enquiry.
How do supplement boxes reach me?
Supplement packaging is printed over 4–6 business days once your proof is approved. It then goes out by free tracked UK delivery, arriving in 2–3 business days.
What happens if my supplement boxes are misprinted?
Send photos within 10 days of delivery. We reprint or refund the affected cartons.
